Frances Louise Mize Lovely, 78, of Brevard, passed peacefully Jan. 28, 2019, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Henry County, Va., to the late Jettie Mize and Russell J. Mize. She is also predeceased by her brother, Lynwood Mize.

The Mize family operated a funeral home in Bassett, Va., for many years. After moving to Brevard in 1968, she was employed at Transylvania County Hospital for 30 years. One of the highlights of her career was helping to deliver her three healthy grandchildren.

She enjoyed singing with a local band for senior citizen groups and was a member of Enon Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Darlene Griffin (Dale), of Brevard, Carol Johnston, of Richmond, Va., and Linda Helms (Brent), of Winston-Salem, N.C .; three grandchildren, Ben Johnston, Larke Blanton (Jamie) and Claire Griffin.

She is also survived by Gene Lovely, of Brevard, father of their three children; step-mother, Katherine Mize; and step-daughters, Donna Thomas and Sylvia Plaster, of Stuart, Va.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, Feb. 9, 2019, at 1 p.m. at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory Cemetery (formerly Pisgah Gardens).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity she supported, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Honor her by listening to a good old gospel song, sharing a good meal with friends and family, and doing a good deed for someone in need.
