Guests arrived in stretch limousines and were greeted by Transylvania County ROTC and the Transylvania County Honor Guard.

Feb. 8 was for many a night to remember and to treasure. It was the second annual Night to Shine, a special-needs prom hosted by Brevard Community Church.

The venue was at Transylvania County Parks and Recreation, but because of the exquisite decorations, one could never tell it was a gym.

The parking lot was filled with fire trucks from Brevard Fire and Rescue and Little River Fire and Rescue. Transylvania County ROTC and Transylvania County Honor Guard lined the red carpet and assisted guests as they arrived in stretch limousines.

The crowd cheered as each person arrived making smiles for miles. More than 200 volunteers welcomed each individual from the time they had their hair, makeup and shoes shined to the very end of the night when each guest was crowned a king or queen.

Karaoke was introduced this year, and it was a hit. Guests lined up to sing their favorites and dedicate music to their loved ones.

One young lady dedicated a song to her friend with cancer as spectators wiped their teary eyes.

The dance floor was filled with excitement as DJ Dogg brought great energy and enthusiasm as guests and volunteers danced the night away.

Night to Shine this year was held at 655 churches across the states and in 24 countries.

More than 100,000 honored guests attended this single night event throughout the world.

This event is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation and many local organizations in this county.
