Nonprofits Help Save Animals

February 25, 2019

As a follow-up to the article written by The Transylvania Times last month regarding the live release rate at the animal shelter, I would like to draw special attention to two of the nonprofit organizations that partner with the shelter and who have been instrumental in its success rate; FOTAS (Friends of the Animal Shelter) and PAWS (Pisgah Animal Welfare Society).

In 2018, FOTAS provided over 725 vouchers to pet owners that enabled them to spay/neuter their pets at no cost. FOTAS picked up the cost at an average of $35 per spay/neuter for an approximate total of $25,000.
