Alan Cameron will present "The Skunks of North Carolina" for Discover Natural Transylvania program at the Transylvania County Library at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 7.

Cameron uses game cameras to capture images of wildlife at DuPont State Recreational Forest and other locations. His recent work includes the first photograph of the rare Eastern Spotted Skunk in Henderson County and the first picture of a spotted skunk family, including a female and three kits.

He will cover all skunk species. There are only seven, but he will focus on the common striped skunk and the rare Eastern Spotted Skunk. Cameron will provide tips for using and baiting game camera. He will also offer some hints on how to treat skunk spray.

Presenter Alan Cameron is a long-time volunteer with the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission, a member of Friends of DuPont Forest, and a retired intelligence analyst with the National Security Agency.

He was the presenter for the popular "Wildlife of Transylvania County" series held at the library in January and February 2017. Don't miss this opportunity to learn more fascinating tidbits about the creatures who share the forests with us.

Light refreshments are provided by the Friends of the Library who support the Discover Natural Transylvania program series on the first Thursday of most months. For additional information, contact Marcy at (828) 884-1820 or at marcy.thompson@transylvaniacounty.org.
