County Considering New EMS Station

The county EMS base station on the Asheville Highway was built in 1957.

During a presentation, county staff showed a new EMS base station is needed because the current building is too small, has several structural and site issues, and is in a dangerous location.

The EMS base station was one of several long-term capital issues discussed during the Board of Commissioners' recent budget workshop.

The 1,961-square-foot EMS base station, located on the Asheville Highway in front of Ingles, was built in 1957. Its floor, foundation and walls are showing signs of the building sinking, according to Assistant County Manager David McNeill.
