John Wiley Pierce, 74, of Brevard, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2019.

He was born Sept. 8, 1944, in Weldon, N.C. to the late Bixby and Marjorie Dixon Pierce.

He was a veteran of the United States Army and was a former member of the Brevard Little Theater.

A member of the First Baptist Church of Brevard, he had served as deacon, Sunday school director, and had taught the singles Bible study for many years.

As an employee of Transylvania Regional Hospital for over 30 years as a respiratory therapist, he loved his job and co-workers and helped them meet their needs.

He loved his grandchildren and would do anything for them.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia "Pat" Pierce; daughter, Tricia Pierce Wilson and husband, Jacky, of Spartanburg, S.C .; son, John Wiley Pierce, of Brevard; and five grandchildren, Noah W. Pierce. Zoe Wilson, Jacey Wilson, Ayden W. Pierce, and Meelah Pierce.

A Celebration of Life Service was held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2019, in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel.

The family received friends immediately following the service.
