Paul Richard Pierson

March 4, 2019

Paul Richard Pierson, 73, of Brevard, went home to be with the Lord Monday, Feb. 25, 2019.

He was born Aug. 2, 1945, to the late Charlie and Beulah Pierson. One sister, Irene Hughey, and two nephews, Thomas Green and Lamar Green, preceded him in death.

He was a loving son, brother and uncle. At the age of 7 he had a traumatic brain injury, but this did not stop him from devoting his whole life to the service of others.

After his father died, when he was just 15 years old, he stepped up and took on the role of caregiver to his mother and three younger siblings. He started working odd jobs until he was able to get a full-time job as a custodian at Brevard College, where he worked for over 40 years.

After he retired, he still worked hard helping with the Manna food program at Community Baptist Church. He had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back if he knew you needed it.

He had a fun loving spirit and loved to make people laugh. He became a friend to everyone he met, and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include one sister, Judy Hubbard, and husband, Steve; brother, Charles Pierson, and wife Gail; nephew, Brian Morgan and fiancé, Erika; four nieces, Amanda Jackson, Rebecca Pierson, Sabrina Deal and husband, Joey, and Jana Pierson; and several great-nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday March 9, 2019, at Calvary Baptist Mission Church on Cemetery Road in Pisgah Forest, with the Rev. Shane Greene and Rev. Paul Raines officiating.

The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 p.m., prior to the service.
