Going To The Store

It was one winter back in the late 1960s, early 1970s, the snow was deep and, of course, no way to get to the store without four-wheel drive. We had an old black two-wheel drive 1949 or 1950 Ford pickup truck, and with small children we were out of milk. Marshall started the truck and it went a little way and that was as far as it was going to go. We also had an old black mare that would do anything that was asked of her.
