Franklin Outlasts Brevard In Game Of Power Hitting

Senior Mitchell Johnson provided some middle relief against Franklin, throwing 3 1/3 innings and giving up two earned runs. At the plate, Johnson drove in one run on the night. Click on image to see additional photos from this event.

In a game that featured two sides trading heavy blows back-and-forth, the Franklin Panthers came away with a 13-6 win over the Brevard Blue Devils last Thursday.

The teams combined for 11 runs and two lead changes over the first two innings.

Franklin got the fireworks started early with a leadoff home run followed by an RBI double that just missed leaving the park two batters later.

But starting pitcher Baxter Swicegood gathered himself and struck out the next three batters to get out of the inning.

Then it was Brevard's turn to respond.
