Bernice Powell, president of the Balsam Grove Community Club, was honored at a surprise birthday party Sunday, March 17, by her daughter Angie Owen and daughter-in-law Misty Powell. The picture of Bernice is from when she was a senior at Rosman High School in a dress she made. A true beauty then and now.

Bread Of Life Food Truck

The Bread of Life food truck will be at the Balsam Grove Community Center every Wednesday from noon until 1 p.m. They will have plate lunches that you can take home with you. This service is available to anyone in the community. So, make plans to come out to the community center on Wednesdays and get your plate lunch to eat.

Notice

Just a reminder, if you have donations for our yard sales, contact an officer of the community club to meet you at the community center to put it in the building. Items get ruined if they are just dropped at the door, and then we have to pay to have it hauled off. We appreciate your cooperation. Calls may be made to Bernice Powell at 884-6058 or Carol Gardner at 884-6497 or any other officer.

Playgroup At Balsam Grove Community Center

They have started a playgroup at the Balsam Grove Community Center every Wednesday from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Melissa Pearl, of Community Playgroups, is heading this up. There will be different activities, crafts, snacks, etc., at no expense to the parents. For more information, email mpcommunityplaygroups@ gmail.com or call (828) 808-6638.

Journey Scholarship

All Rosman High School (RHS) seniors who live in Balsam Grove and plan to attend college are eligible for a $500 scholarship from the community club. All you have to do is complete the journey scholarship application from WNC Communities available in the guidance office at RHS. The application must be signed by a community club officer and be in the WNC Communities office by March 22. If you have any questions, contact Bernice Powell or Carol Gardner.

For those wanting even more activity, Melissa is teaching a Zumba class from 6:30 to 7:30 every Tuesday.

The cost is $6 per class also. If you want more information contact Bernice Powell at 884-6058.
