Elsie Williams Wilson, born Oct. 6, 1923, in Edneyville, passed away peacefully March 29, 2019.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Amos and Pammie Williams, of Edneyville; husband, E.C. Wilson; brothers, Charles and Earl Williams; and "adopted son" Bill McKelvey.

She taught Sunday school and Bible school almost 80 years at Carr's Hill Baptist Church.

She was known for preparing food for many, which was her gift of service for her Lord and Savior. You never went hungry if you were around her, especially if you were fortunate to eat her chicken potpie and her special "scratch" coconut cake, Hershey Bar Cake, and her lemon topped seven minute icing cake. In her later life, she crocheted many toboggans for mission ministries.

Survivors include her children, Deedie (Barbara) Wilson, Carrol (Ruth) Wilson, Judy (Larry) Reece, Brenda Ivers and Freda McKelvey; sisters, Christine Jackson, Cassie Stepp, Lou Capps, Joyce Anders (Dick) and Wayne Williams (Carolyn), all of Henderson County; grandchildren, Brian (Lee) Wilson, Kevin (Becca) Reece, Keith (Lisa) Reece, David Wilson, Elizabeth, Alexandria (Jackson) and Kris (Jess) Ivers and Thad (Sonya) McKelvey; great-grandchildren, Christopher and Cameron Wilson, Katherine, Allison, Kristen, Karmen, Lindsey and Megan Reece, Blake Ivers, Austin Ashburn, Madison, Elizabeth and Walker and Jake McKelvey; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank Care Partners Home Care nurses who helped take care of her in the last several weeks. Special thanks to Lois Morris Green for helping each day through the week and to Lisa Bracken Smith for staying at night to give family members a break.

Thanks to all her Carr's Hill Church family for the many prayers and for those who stopped by to visit.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Building Fund of Carr's Hill Baptist Church, 2719 Greenville Highway, Brevard, NC 28712.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2019, at Carr's Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
