Local Youth Competes Among Nation's Best Snowboarders

Five-year-old Neva Peterson is already making a splash on the snowboarding scene after qualifying to compete in a national event.

Anybody who ever said youth is wasted on the young has clearly never met Neva Peterson.

At just 5 years old, not only is Peterson already tearing up the mountains as a snowboarder, she's one of the best in sport and recently traveled to Colorado for a national competition.

She also regularly competes in BMX races and traveled to Rock Hill, S.C. for an event last Friday.

Needless to say, there's never a dull moment for Peterson, and her mother, Ronna Strilaeff.

Strilaeff said she first introduced her daughter to snowboarding when she was 3.
