County Drenched In Friday Rainfall

Last Friday's rainfall reached 7 inches in some areas in Transylvania County. The impacts from the rain were visible in the days after, including on Hannah Ford Road.

Intense rainfall fell on Transylvania County Friday, peaking at 7.1 inches overall and breaking the record for the month of April.

"There were areas that were getting an inch or two an hour, which is not totally uncommon in the summertime, but those were impressive rainfall rates," said Lauren Carroll, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service. "I'm seeing a range of 3 inches, and that's closer to the western third half of the county, and more toward the eastern third, roughly 4-and-a-half inches and up to that 7-inch mark."
