The Transylvania Times -

A Shining Star

April 25, 2019

I was visiting my sister and her husband, Barb and Bob Liggett, in Connestee Falls, and we stopped to have noon lunch at Kelly’s Family Restaurant on Sunday, April 14. It was a rainy day and as we were preparing to leave the restaurant, the rain was an absolute downpour.

A man named Michael (Mike) was eating with his family. He came over and volunteered to go out and bring their car to the back door.

At first we refused but the wind and torrential rain continued, and when he offered again we gratefully accepted. Michael did not have a raincoat nor an umbrella but without hesitation he ran up the back hill parking lot and brought the car down to the back door. We wished afterwards we had thought fast enough to buy his lunch. We are so grateful for the perfect stranger (aka an angel) who did such a kind deed.

My sister has said for years that Brevard has so many kind, thoughtful people. Michael is a shining star at the top of the list. I hope he sees this in the paper or perhaps someone at the restaurant will remember the deed and pass on our appreciation to him.

As a side note, Kelly’s Family Restaurant food and service were absolutely wonderful—we will return on my next visit to Brevard.
