The talk is sponsored by the Transylvania County Extension Master Gardeners and is free to the public.

Everyone from the owners of large gardens to those with just a patio or balcony love the sight of containers filled with flowers.

There always seems to be room to slot in a container or hanging basket that can easily be appreciated from inside your home.

Buying containers fully planted can get expensive and the mix of plants may not suit everyone's taste.

Hope Janowitz's hands-on demonstration on "Creating Spring and Summer Container Gardens" on Tuesday, May 14, will be an opportunity to learn from a pro and to get your creative juices going.

This talk is sponsored by the Transylvania County Extension Master Gardeners and is part of the monthly program of talks and demonstrations that will interest Master Gardeners, amateur gardeners and the public at large.

Janowitz is a very popular speaker and always draws a good crowd of enthusiastic gardeners.

This is a great opportunity to learn about creating beautiful container gardens for the spring and summer.

Whether you are new to this type of planting or just want new ideas, this talk is the place to be. Janowitz will cover container types, the do's and don'ts of planting, what does well in this area and most of all what plants play well together in a container and look fantastic throughout the growing season.

Janowitz is a horticulturist and garden consultant who, with her husband, Jano, owns and operates New Leaf Garden Market in Pisgah Forest.

Janowitz and Jano came to Transylvania County in 1999, and after working in several different realms of the horticulture industry in Western North Carolina, opened New Leaf Garden Market in early summer 2009. New Leaf Garden Market is celebrating its 10th spring.

Janowitz has a Bachelor of Science degree in landscape horticulture from N.C. State University, is a N.C. certified plant professional and N.C registered landscape contractor.
