Brevard Tennis Wins Dogfight, Advances To Second Round

Brevard freshman Porter Schrader had a pair of key victories, in singles and doubles action, to help the Blue Devils defeat Lake Norman Charter, 5-4, and advance to the second round of the 2A dual team playoffs last Wednesday.

In a marathon match that lasted roughly three hours, the Brevard Blue Devils dug deep to score an impressive 5-4 victory over Lake Norman Charter in the first round of the 2A dual team playoffs last Wednesday.

From top to bottom, it was a match of razor thin margins.

Four singles matches went to a third-set tiebreaker, and the two teams split those results.

The match was tied at 3-3 after completion of singles play and it all came down to the final doubles match of the day, with Brevard's top duo of Cullen Duval and Porter Schrader winning 10-7 to give Brevard the victory.
