Much like the truth, it’s clear that these days, at least in sports, that people only like the rules when they directly benefit from them.

And, frankly, it’s getting really old, very fast.

By now, everybody knows about the controversy at the Kentucky Derby.

Horse has lead. Horse veers into other horses, knocking them off course, yet wins. Horse is disqualified after the race.

In the simplest terms, that is what happened. Those are the facts and they undisputed.

So why the outrage? How is this an affront to racing, as some have said? Do the rules only matter in certain instances?...
