Library Bag Lunch Series To Offer 'What's Old Is New'

May 16, 2019

The 2019 Bag Lunch Arts Series continues in May with “What’s Old is New,” a series of plays presented by members of Lookinglass Playhouse. The program begins at noon on Tuesday, May 21, in the library’s Rogow Room and is made possible by the Friends of the Library.

The performance, “What’s Old Is New,” includes three new 10 minute plays and two classic scenes. Lookinglass Playhouse is an acting company in the Western North Carolina mountains dedicated to performing thought-provoking and unique work. The company includes Brevard favorites Sandi, Mark and Andy Thompson; Nita Porter; Amy Shute; Sally Burnett and founding member Claudia Carter Covington, who acted professionally and served as literary manager for Charlotte Repertory Theatre for 20 years before moving to Brevard.

The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Transylvania County Library. Proceeds from Friends’ memberships, the annual book sale and from the second-story book room sales help pay for all of the programming at the library. There is never a charge to attend programs, and the public is invited to bring along a bag lunch to enjoy during this program. Refreshments for bag lunch are provided by the Friends and include cookies and coffee from Blue Ridge Bakery. For more information, call the library at 884-3151.
