Rosman Chooses Essenberg To Lead Team This Fall

May 16, 2019

Rosman High School has chosen Dan Essenberg to become the interim head football coach through the 2019-20 football season.

He will be recommended for appointment to the Board of Education during its May 20 meeting.

Essenberg previously served as head coach at both Rosman and Brevard, and he was already on board as an assistant for the upcoming season.

The school board initially announced Essenberg as temporary head coach, effective May 1, to facilitate the start of spring workouts while the search process continued.

Superintendent Jeff McDaris said that Essenberg’s knowledge and experience can benefit Rosman players and the community.

“Coach Essenberg is known to many,” said McDaris. “He has the ability to provide both continuity and energy to motivate students who have pride in their school and their program, and who want to excel both on and off the football field.”

The coaching position for which Essenberg has been hired does not involve additional duties, such as teaching.

A search continues for a physical education teacher at Rosman High School.
