How Dare They

In my 30 years in pediatrics it was unusual to see the father come into the office with the child for a “well child visit” much less a sick visit. It was usually mom. Then there was the mother depressed, trying to breast feed, exhausted, sleepless, and the father stands in the corner rolling his eyes, an unsubtle commentary. Or we can talk about the pregnant teenage girl. The father is gone, out of the picture and does not really care about the baby nor feel responsibility.

Do I have to mention the mentally challenged girl of whom some male has taken advantage? What about the teenager...
