The Transylvania Times -

Library To Host Concerts Every Friday In June

May 30, 2019

The Friends of the Library have announced their continuing support of the popular Summer Concert Series at the Transylvania County Library. The amphitheater at the library provides an idyllic setting for local and regional artists to share their talents with our community.

Concerts will be held at 7:30 p.m. each Friday in June at the Library Amphitheater. In case of rain, the concerts will be held in the Rogow Room. The concerts are free and open to the public.

Queen Bee and the Honeylovers will get things “swinging” on June 7. This unabashedly joyful swing band will be bringing their original compositions and classic swing standards to put a smile on your face and a tap in your toes.

On June 14 the library will welcome Kyshona (kuh-shauna). Emerging from a music therapy background, Kyshona infuses a singer-songwriter sensibility into the traditions of roots, soul and blues.

Zoe & Cloyd, long-time fixtures of the Asheville music scene, will appear on June 21 in support of a forthcoming album release this year. Ranging from folk to bluegrass stylings, these award-winning musicians and songwriters will bring a quartet to showcase a sound that has been referred to as “new Appalachian music.”

The summer series will close on June 28 with Gypsy Grass. Founded by Ben Phan, this five-piece arrangement is comprised of a super-group of virtuoso musicians.

The band was formed around the desire to play a variety of genres and is sure to strike just the right chords for a perfect celebration of the conclusion of the series.

Plan to attend each Friday in June at 7:30 p.m. to kick off the evening, welcome the weekend, and usher in the summer!

(The Summer Concert Series is sponsored by the Friends of the Transylvania County Library. Proceeds from Friends’ memberships and from Book Room sales help pay for all of the programming at the library.
