BMS Students Learn The 'Reality Of Money'

May 30, 2019

Brevard Middle School students spent a day earlier this month learning about financial realities during the “Reality of Money” event organized by State Employees’ Credit Union.

“Reality of Money” is a project of the North Carolina Credit Union Development Educators that was designed for eighth through 12th grade students.

Facilitator Cindy Hubbard, vice president of the Brevard State Employees’ Credit Union, said the program has been very popular among students and their parents.

“We do it to help prepare the youth for financial realities that they will face when they go from high school to college to the real world,” said Hubbard.

Volunteers from the community, including retired teachers, law enforcement and state employees were on hand working the different stations, each giving students tips and guidance on how to best use their money.
