When Anna Yount became the director of the Transylvania County Library 25 years ago, the library had an exceptional staff and good programs. But the library, which was housed in what is now the County Administration Building, was too small, too confining. Certain items were located in the basement. There was no room to add any more books. Programs were held in tight quarters and there were only seven parking spaces. With one of the highest per capita usage rates in the state, it was apparent to library staff and county leaders that a new, larger library was needed.
