Hellbender 20-Miler

A 20-mile team race down the Upper French Broad River to support the Transylvania River Stewards will be held Saturday, June 22. The race will be limited to 20 teams. Pre-registration and pre-payment are required. Check in is at 9:15 a.m. at Headwaters Outfitters. The race will start at 10 a.m.

Upper French Broad Riverfest

A free family oriented festival takes place riverside at Rosman’s Champion Park on June 22. Enjoy food trucks, music and lots of activities for kids, including tubing rides, archery, fishing, a scavenge hunt, live reptiles, balloons, face painting and more.

Memorial Benefit

On Saturday, June 15, there will be a bake sale and sausage biscuit sale starting at 8 a.m. at the Quebec Community Center. Barbeque lunch sandwiches and dinner plates starting at 11:30 a.m. Bluegrass and gospel music starting at noon, with Mike and Lori Pressley; Smokey Mountain Mist Bank will play at 1 p.m .; and Ronnie and Nathan Chapman and the Slick Fisher Band will play at 3 p.m. There will be several raffles sold during the food sale and music. Bingo food sales will begin at 5 p.m. and bingo games at 6 p.m. Raffles will be drawn during bingo. The raffle items include a chainsaw bear carving by Jason Smathers, a painting by Vickie Ayers, a Yeti backpack, a rocking chair from Ingles, a fishing rod made by Nathan Chapman, a Mekita skill saw, and tickets for the Asheville Tourists, the WNC Nature Center, Flat Rock Playhouse, Chimney Rock, Dollywood and others. There will be an auctioning off a quilt made by Beverly Wilson starting at $100. The memorial benefit is in honor of Ellen Ayers Goulet and Rue Ayers. All proceeds will be used for the new floor in the Quebec Community Center.


The Rosman High Graduating class of 2019 will be held at 10 a.m., June 8, at Brevard Music Center.

RHS Classes

The RHS class of 1961 meets at 9 a.m. every third Tuesday of the month for breakfast at The Country Skillet. The RHS class of 1962 meets the first Thursday of each month at The Country Skillet. The RHS class of 1963 meets at 9 a.m. on the second Thursday at the Skillet. The RHS class of 1964 meets at 5 p.m. on the second Friday of the month at Skillet.

Food Pantry

Zion Baptist Church holds a food pantry the third Saturday of each month. No screening involved.
