Spirited Concert

June 10, 2019

What an experience last Thursday! World-class cellist Amit Peled filled the air with sounds that brought an audience jumping to its feet at the end.

It was the spring fundraiser for the Brevard Philharmonic, held in the beautiful home of Kristine and John Candler on the grounds of the Brevard Music Center. Those who were lucky enough to get tickets for the great room’s limited seating enjoyed a gracious reception with wine and hors d’oeuvres and an intimate but spirited concert to be remembered. Accompanied by local pianist Vance Reese, Peled, who teaches at Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody Institute, coaxed heavenly notes from his 19th century English cello, interspersed with witty and informative commentary on each piece. Through much of the music, the rapt audience seemed hardly able to breath.

I can’t wait for next year’s program!
