The 2019 Bag Lunch Arts Series continues in June with “A Spiritual Journey Through Egypt’s Sacred Sites” presented by Peggy Moore. The program begins at noon on Tuesday, June 18, in the Rogow Room at the Transylvania County Library and is made possible by the Friends of the Library.

Join Moore for a visual presentation and tour through the amazing sacred sites of ancient Egypt. The tour will include the Great Pyramid, the Sphinx, the Perfect and Imperfect Pyramids of Dahsur, as well as the Egyptian Museum, Blue Lotus Water Gardens, and the Sufi Whirling Dervishes sites in Luxor, including the Karnak Temple complex, Luxor Temple and mosque. Other sites include the Valley of the Kings and Tutankhamun’s tomb, Habou Temple, and Rasmmussen Temple, as well as the Valley of the Queens, Hatshepsut’s Temple and Hathor’s Temple. Finally, on the River Nile there’s the Temple of Horus in Edfu.

Moore is a life-long student of spiritual and metaphysical studies and has led trips to the mounds, standing stones and sacred sites of Ireland, Scotland, Wales and England, and most recently, a trip to Egypt. Currently at Osher Life Long Learning Institute at the University of North Carolina Asheville, she teaches courses in Celtic Spirituality, Ireland’s Sacred Sites and meditation. She has led workshops in stress management, teacher training, herbal nutrition, metaphysical studies and religious teachings. Her formal academic studies led to degrees in behavioral sciences and religious studies with graduate work and research in social sciences, behavior management, education administration and special education.

The program is sponsored by the Friends of the Transylvania County Library. Proceeds from Friends’ memberships, the annual book sale, and from Second Story Book Room sales help pay for all of the programming at the library.

There is never a charge to attend programs and the public is invited to bring along a bag lunch to enjoy during this program.
