The Transylvania Times -

Bonnie Fordham Phillips Hollingsworth

June 13, 2019

Bonnie Fordham Phillips Hollingsworth, 78, of Rosman, passed away just after sunrise Sunday, June 2, 2019, at the Elizabeth House in Hendersonville.

She was born in Laurens County, Ga. Nov. 14, 1940, to the late Carris Lee Fordham and Edna Trowell Fordham, but lived much of her life in Sarasota, Fla. and the mountains of Transylvania County. In addition to her parents, her beloved sister, Betty, whom she never moved beyond losing her sister, preceded her in death. We celebrate that they are reunited in heaven.

She loved her southern roots and worked hard to live her life true to those roots. She was a model in her early 20s with her paintings displayed at the Ringling Museum of Art in Sarasota. She loved gardening, playing the guitar, singing and gospel music. She had several careers in her lifetime, but nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family.

Bonnie is survived by her son, Robert Phillips (Cyndi), of Nashville, Tenn .; daughter, Sharon Phillips Blythe (Phil), of Arden; stepdaughters, Glenda Phillips, of Jacksonville, Fla., Ramona Phillips Zaremba, of Fletcher and Tina Phillips Perry, of Grass Valley, Calif .; grandson, Joshua Gravley (Laura) and great-grandson, Colton, of Mills River; granddaughter, Caitlin Phillips Welke and great-grandson, Deacon, of Sarasota, Fla .; grandson, Paul (Jill) Zaremba and great-grandchildren, Hailey and Zane; granddaughter, Jennifer (James) Morrison and great-grandchildren, Trevor, Julia, Tristan and Mary; four brothers, Parker Summerlin (Alisa), Lee Fordham (Della), Jack Fordham (Pat) and Dennie Fordham (Mecca); and one sister, Donna Rankin (Rusty).

She leaves many special nieces and nephews, whom she cherished; and her partner of 30 years, Steve Hollingsworth, his children and grandchildren.

A service of remembrance and celebration of her life will be held Saturday, June 15, 2019, at 3 p.m. in the English Chapel United Methodist Church, 85 English Chapel Bridge Dr., in Pisgah Forest.

The family will receive friends at the church after the service.

Interment will be at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory, where she will be laid to rest with the father of her children.
