Cooperative Extension Offering Food Preservation Workshops

With the appearance of fresh produce in the garden, at the farmers’ market and at roadside stands, it is it is time to begin thinking about home food preservation. Family Consumer Science Extension Agent Renay Knapp will teach a series of classes throughout the summer on how to preserve those fresh fruits, vegetables and meats. There will be classes during the day as well as in the evening. The first of these hands-on workshops will be on canning fruits and fruit juices using the hot water bath method. At the second workshop, soft spreads (jam, jelly, etc.) and pickles will be prepared...
