Neighborhood News

Have you been to the Farmers’ Market recently? Our local, certified organic farm, Pitch Pines, is amazing! Have you seen the summer produce Paige and Justin are producing? The table at the market looks like a still life painting. It’s so colorful and beautiful, not to mention delicious and nutritious!

If you haven’t been to McCall’s this summer, you better hurry before I eat all the blackberries. They are so big, plump and juicy. I freeze them, too, for summer smoothies. Their famous corn is expected pretty soon. They are hoping for mid-July to have the corn picked and waiting for us on the tables. There is other produce to choose from.

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream! Have you been to The Sneaky Moose Roadside Café yet (formerly Kay K’s) at DuPont Forest. They are located at 3945 Staton Road. Reward yourself after a hike with an ice cream treat or cold beverage. Four-legged friends are welcome and receive a “Pup Cup” for free! It’s open seven days a week.

Every Friday is RED Fridays at The Sneaky Mouse Roadside Café. RED (Remember Everyone Deployed) is a national movement to honor our heroes overseas and to let them know they are supported until they all come home. Proudly wear RED on Friday and stop by the café for 5 percent off your order.
