Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler

4 cups fresh peaches, sliced

1 cup sugar

½ cup butter or margarine

1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

¾ teaspoon salt

½ cup shortening

¼ cup, plus 1 tablespoon cold water


Combine first 3 ingredients in medium pan, bring to a boil, and cook over low heat until peaches are tender and mixture thickens. Pour mixture into lightly buttered 10 x 6 x 2-inch baking dish, and set aside. Combine flour and salt.
