Authors Coming To Highland Books

July 18, 2019

On Saturday, July 27, at 2 p.m. readers who enjoy thrillers and mysteries are encouraged to come hear authors Adair Sanders and Darryl Bollinger speak at Highland Books.

Sanders, a Brevard resident with family ties to WNC tracing back to the 1600s, and Bollinger, hailing from Waynesville after recovering his wits and relocating from Florida, will share the spotlight and the mic for an hour or so, regaling the audience with tales of murder, blackmail and other assorted mayhem.

The author of the popular “Allison Parker Mysteries,” Sanders is a popular presenter at Highland Books, Malaprops Bookstore and elsewhere.

Drawing on her 30 plus years as a trial attorney, Sanders has created a believable and addicting series with not only a strong female protagonist, but also a continuing cast of memorable and engaging core characters. While the five books in the series can be read as stand-alone tales, as with most series, the reader gets the most out of the saga by starting with the first book, in this case “As Sick As Our Secrets.”

After getting hooked on Allison and the gang, readers can continue with “What Comes Around,” “Ashes to Ashes,” “Suffer the Children” and “Wolf.”

In addition to the five books in the Allison Parker Mystery series, Sanders is the author of an award-winning memoir, “Biologically Bankrupt,” as well as “Out of the Ashes, A Collection of Essays.”

Sanders was a founding member of The Brevard Authors Guild, and is a current member of The Chattanooga Writers Guild, the North Carolina Writers Network and Sisters In Crime. Readers can follow her blog at http://www.adair or keep up with her on Facebook at Author Adair Sanders.

Like Sanders, Darryl Bollinger draws on his prior career — 28 years in the health care profession — for inspiration and authenticity in crafting six, page-turning medical thrillers.

Set in Western North Carolina, Bollinger’s latest novel, “The Cure,” won a gold medal from the Florida Authors and Publishers Association in their President’s Book Award national contest. Kirkus Reviews praised “The Cure,” stating “The author continues his streak of engrossing medical tales with this winner.”

Other medical thrillers by Bollinger are “The Care Card,” “The Medicine Game,” “A Case of Revenge,” “The Pill Game” and “Satan’s Shoal.”

Bollinger is a member of the Florida Writers’ Association Florida Authors and Publishers Association, and the Writers Workshop of Asheville. Both Sanders and Bollinger will have books available for purchase and signing after the event.
