On June 29, three Rosman Middle School students and one Rosman High School student traveled to San Antonio, Texas to compete at the National Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Conference.

Over 13,000 students from across the nation were in attendance.

These Rosman Middle-High School (RMHS) students qualified for nationals in March of this year while attending the state leadership conference in Greensboro, N.C. with their club advisors, Lisa Gillespie and Tammy Hall.

A total of 10 middle school students and nine high school students traveled to Greensboro for the FBLA state competition, and all 10 of the middle school students won awards and four of the high school students placed as well.

The winners from RHS were Madelyn Barton (second place, Journalism), Grace Owen (top 10 for Job Interview), Callie Owen (top 10 for Public Speaking) and Dakotah Morgan (top 10 for OrganizationalLeadership).

The RMS winners were Vanessa Enriquez and Madison Aiken (top 10 for Critical Thinking), McKenna Baker and Myah Owen (top ten for Computer Slide Show), Bailey Owen and Claire Owen (third place for Desktop Publishing), Shelby Tinsley (second place in Public Speaking,), and finally, Kyndall Harrison, Reagan Chapman, and Meadow McCall (first place for Community Service).

RHS student, Madelyn Barton, qualified to compete in Journalism at the National Level. Kyndall Harrison, Reagan Chapman and Meadow McCall, of RMS, qualified to compete in Community Service.

The community service students did an outstanding job with their "We CAN Make a Difference" project.

Working with Mrs. Laura Smith in the middle school, these students teamed up with the BETA Club to organize several school-wide food drives for Zion Baptist Church's food pantry.

Local students who attended the FBLA State Leadership Conference in Greensboro, N.C. were: (left to right, bottom row) Dakotah Morgan, Katie Scott, Madelyn Barton, Kyndall Harrison, Meadow McCall, Raegan Chapman, Emma Abram, Josh Voris; (middle row) Mckenna Baker, Madison Aiken, Vanessa Enriquez, Myah Owen, Shelby Tinsley, Claire Owen, Bailey Owen; (top row) Brooklyn Myers, Madison Henson, Callie Owen and Grace Owen.

These young ladies set a goal to collect 500 cans but were able to exceed their goal, reaching a total of 630 cans, several boxed dry goods, and $100 in donations.

With these donations, the students were able to pack 80 boxes of food to feed local families at Christmas-time.

Twenty of those boxes were given to students on the Angel Tree, three boxes were presented to The Bread of Life, and the remainder were sent to the food pantry.

While students did not place at the National Conference, they had the opportunity to experience riding in a plane for the first time, and visiting the Alamo, the famous Riverwalk, and the Tower of the Americas.

RMHS would like to thank the following individuals and businesses for their support in sending these students to the National Leadership conference: CMC Landscaping, Owen Concrete, Metcalf Compounding Pharmacy, J. E. Boelte, Trish Cheek, Gaynelle Patterson, Tyler J. McCall, Toxaway Grading Co., Inc., Fisher Realty and Baldridge Insurance & Financial Services, Inc.
