Lost A Friend

Lake Toxaway lost a friend to so many. Dwight Rigsby, 57, passed away on July 10. He was a large part of the Lake Toxaway community and will be greatly missed. A celebration of life was held at the Lake Toxaway Fire Department last Saturday. They are asking for any donations to be made to the fire department.

Josh McKinney Memorial Ride

The 2nd Annual Memorial Ride for Josh McKinney, the Lake Toxaway firefighter who lost his life to cancer last year, was held this past weekend. This year, the funds raised will be going to Jacqueline Holden, who was recently diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer. She is married, with a 13-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter. Both she and her husband are hard workers but, unfortunately, do not have insurance. Jacqueline is facing a major surgery July 18 and will have a very long recovery. They both love their family and the Lake Toxaway community and always willing to help others. They will continue to accept donations and send checks (include Jacqueline Holden’s name), or send a get-well card, to Lake Toxaway Post Office, Blue Ridge Road, C/O Jacqueline Holden Lake Toxaway, NC 28747.
