Visit South Carolina's Highest Peak – Headwaters State Forest

Visitors to the Sassafras Mountain overlook tower will see panoramic views on a clear day of North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia. As of Earth Day 2019, visitors can enjoy South Carolina's highest peak, Sassafras Mountain, from a newly constructed observation tower that straddles the North Carolina South Carolina state line.

For those looking for a mobility impaired accessible trail, with incredible views, this is a great option. While the 100-foot paved walkway is not what most would call a "trail" it connects the parking area to the observation tower, and features a ramp to access the lookout.

Once atop the tower, observers can see panoramic views of North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia on a clear day. The...
