Chamber To Host Sept. 17 Candidate Forum

The Brevard/Transylvania Chamber of Commerce will host its candidates forum on Tuesday, Sept. 17, in the library’s Rogow Room.

The races for Brevard City Council, Rosman Alderman and Rosman mayor will be covered. This year, the candidates are unopposed, so the panels will follow a more informal, discussion-based format.

Candidates Gary Daniel, Kevin Jones, and Maurice Jones for Brevard City Council; Larry Bullock and Mark Miller for Rosman Alderman; and Brian Shelton for Mayor of Rosman, have been invited to attend.

The Chamber of Commerce is an unbiased, non-partisan organization that hosts the annual Candidates Forum as a community service.

The event, which is organized by the chamber’s Governmental Affairs Committee, is designed to provide citizens a unique opportunity to learn more about candidates and their platforms for key local and state races.

The public is encouraged to attend in support of their community and the elected officials who serve it.

Questions for the candidates are selected in advance of the event by the committee with the goal of obtaining relevant infor-mation from the candidates in a fair manner.

Input from the public is welcomed.

Any resident who has a question to be considered for the forum should submit it via email to by Tuesday, Sept. 10.

The Chamber of Commerce is a member-based organization designed to enhance, advance and promote the well-being of the local business community. It is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit with more than 500 members. Membership is open to any person, business, non-profit or other organization interested in the promotion and welfare of the local business community and the quality of life for Transylvania County residents.
