Glancing Back: Richard Parris Wins Soap Box Derby Title

The following briefs are from Thursday, Aug. 7, 1969 edition of The Transylvania Times.

William H. Wilkie Jr., a native of Skyland and a space engineer, designed the whole-body counter that is being used in the National Space Administration’s Lunar Receiving Laboratory in Houston, Texas. He is on leave from Oak Ridge and is completing requirements for a Ph.D. in nuclear engineering at Georgia Institute of Technology. He is married to the former Mary Allyn Reynolds of Brevard.
