Rent the Cathey’s Creek Community Center

For information on renting the CCCC, contact Joann Galloway at 883-3557. The community center is located at 131 Island Ford Road, just off U.S. 64 west. Also known as the schoolhouse, it was the former Selica School, a two-room schoolhouse. Most of the kids walked to school, and some of the boys would go early and start a fire in the wood/coal heater to warm the building up before the other students got there. The children learned and respected the teachers and other students. Talking to some of the people who went there, they have fond memories of their years attending the school.
