In the wake of mass shootings, those who refuse any measures that would restrict ownership of certain firearms generally make three arguments: any restrictions would lead down a “slippery slope” to abolition of the Second Amendment; if everyone were armed, there would be fewer mass shootings; and the time to discuss such issues is not after a mass shooting. These arguments are faulty and hypocritical with a touch of elitism.
