Carson To Discuss Rare Beauty Of Mountain Bogs

The bog turtle is just one rare creature found in mountain bogs.

Deep in our forests, cloaked in tangles of rhododendron and soaked by underground springs, lie some of our most amazing wetland ecosystems: mountain bogs.

Ecologist Owen Carson will discuss these one-of-a-kind systems that support unique collections of flora and fauna, often harboring rare, threatened or endangered species on Thursday, Sept. 5, at 6:30 p.m. at the Transylvania County Library.
