On a red oak tree near Williamson Creek, a furry yellow tussock caterpillar sought a place to cocoon, striving to achieve his destiny as a moth. In a field bordering the French Broad River, thousands of dragonflies swarmed, darting and hovering, burnished bronze in the setting sun, anticipating fall. High in a white pine I built yet another treehouse with Samuel, my youngest grandson, now a high school freshman on the way to who knows where. Believers and dreamers and doers all. A promising future beckons.
