So far this month, Hurricane Dorian, the fifth Category 5 hurricane in the last four years, obliterated part of the Bahamas. There have been only 34 Category 5 hurricanes in the Atlantic basin since such categorization began in 1924. In the Houston area, Tropical Storm Imelda dumped more than 40 inches of rain, comparable to the inundation the area received from Hurricane Harvey two years ago.
