Volunteers operate the North Toxaway Baptist Church Food Bank, which is open this Saturday.

Music And Dinner

The band playing on Friday is Split Rail. For more information, go to Dinner on Friday will be meatloaf, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, rolls and drinks. Dinner is at 6 p.m. and the music will be performed from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. Upcoming bands include Hickory Hollow on Oct. 11, New Dixie Storm on Oct. 18 and Nick Chandler & Delivered on Oct. 25 (last Friday night of the season).

Bargain Barn

Visit the Bargain Barn on Friday from 8 a.m. to noon and 4-7 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon. All proceeds benefit the Lake Toxaway Community Center. The Bargain Barn is behind the big building at the center.

North Toxaway Baptist Church Food Bank

The food bank is open from 10 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Oct. 4. New clients must show proof of current address. They are located in the Old North Toxaway Baptist Church at the corner of Blue Ridge Road and Slick Fisher Road. We are there to help and you will be treated with respect and discretion. The North Toxaway Baptist Church Food Bank is a partner organization with Manna Food Bank. They distribute food twice monthly to low-income families in the Sapphire, Lake Toxaway and Quebec communities. Additional funding is received from other local churches, individual contributions, grants from Lake Toxaway Charities and the Transylvania Endowment Fund, with monthly distributions of food from the Hunger Coalition.

Quilt Group

The Quilt Group meets every Tuesday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. in the center's large building. If you enjoy quilting, hand or machine, whatever your skill level, or if you would like to learn, come along.

Volunteers Needed

Volunteers are needed at the Lake Toxaway Community Center. If you are interested in baking, we always need someone to help with desserts, or serve meals or clean up afterwards. Does your church group like to cook? Give Susan Breedlove a call at 966-4026 or email

Quebec Community Center News

The senior lunch program at Quebec Community Center offers a nutritious lunch, fellowship and games

Monday through Friday to anyone in the Toxaway, Quebec and Silversteen communities who are 60 or older. The program is between 10 a.m. and noon. Transportation is available. Contact Pam McCall from 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at (828) 862-4466. Make a reservation a day ahead.
