Group Celebrates 30th Birthday With 30 Mile Run

Morning arrived early on May 25, 2019. Too early. My girlfriend Carrie and I departed Swannanoa before the sun rose from the surrounding hills; it was 4 a.m. and time for a jog. We soon joined 13 other early-risers in Asheville, making light conversation and nibbling oatmeal from travel mugs. Energy bars and water bottles were packed into mesh backpacks, watches were set, and a quiet yet excited buzz teemed amongst the group.
