Town Of Rosman Candidate Q&A: Mark Miller

Editor’s Note: Early voting for elections in Brevard and Rosman is underway. The Transylvania Times contacted the candidates running for office to take part in a Q&A. On the ballot are three seats on the Brevard City Council, the Rosman mayor’s seat and two Rosman aldermen seats.

In Rosman, Mayor Brian Shelton and Aldermen Mark Miller and Larry Bullock have filed for another term and face no announced opposition at this time.

All four Brevard candidates responded to take part in the Q&A. Only Rosman Alderman candidate Mark Miller responded.

Name: Mark Miller

Age: 37

Family: wife, Alyssa, and two children, Ray, 7, and Leland, 4.

Education: Brevard High School and some college.

Occupation: retired U.S. Army veteran.

Held Elected Office before: Current Rosman alderman.

What are Rosman’s greatest needs concerning its water system?

Miller: Greatest needs would include a new water tank and maintaining the system (pumps and lines).

What are your suggestions as how to meet these needs?

Miller: The town is currently working on getting a new water tank.

How does the town plan to maintain its streets and roads?

Miller: The town is responsible for 1.29 miles of road. This is maintained using Powell Bill funds.

Can and will the town provide playground equipment for Champion Park?

Miller: The town is working on resolving the playground equipment issue.

Playground equipment is costly, so the town is researching funding opportunities.

Does the town plan to seek and apply for grants concerning needs of the town?

Miller: The town of Rosman researches for grants at every opportunity.

What is your vision for Rosman in the near future and how do you suggest it become a reality?

Miller: My vision for Rosman is to support our community in every way possible.

I help this become a reality by being involved with the community as much as I can.
