Rotary Club Of Brevard To Create Safe Space For Play

The Rotary Club of Brevard has offered to construct a playground and outdoor study area at El Centro Comunitario Hispano-Americano of Transylvania County. The project is designed to support the group’s after-school homework club by providing a safe and welcoming area for outdoor study and recreation. The Rotary Club of Brevard has committed funds for developing an area of approximately 30 feet by 55 feet for recreation while students wait for parents to pick them up. The property is owned by the Brevard-Davidson River Presbyterian Church, which has approved this project.

Consultation with local area landscapers has led the Rotary Club to conclude that the best surface for the playground area would be an artificial grass. The ambient sunlight is insufficient to grow a natural grass surface, and the expected student traffic would only lessen the likelihood of grass survival. To help raise funds for the playground, a gofundme campaign may be found at http://www.gofundme.com/f/new-playground-for-el-centro-of-brevard-nc.
