Conserving Carolina Will Host Headwaters State Forest Guided Hike Oct. 25

This is the view from Bursted Rock in the newly opened Headwaters State Forest, located in the southern part of Transylvania County. The forest is being operated as a "working forest" and there are no plans for development of any kind on the property other than improving some parking areas.

Conserving Carolina is hosting a guided hike to Bursted Rock in Headwaters State Forest on Friday, Oct. 25. Southeast stewardship manager Pam Torlina will lead the 5.2, strenuous, out-and-back hike. For those interested in exploring the newest state forest in Transylvania County, this is the perfect time to explore the newly-designated public land.

Following the Gum Gap Trail to a spur of the Foothills Trail, hikers will enjoy spectacular views from the Blue Ridge Escarpment, including a view of the north side of Table Rock Mountain in South Carolina.
