Friday Gallery Walk Kicks Off Halloweenfest – Brevard, NC

The Transylvania Community Arts Council invites the public to enjoy Brevard’s Fourth Friday Gallery Walk on Oct. 25 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

During gallery walk the TC Arts Council will host an opening reception for their new exhibit “Myth & Folklore” featuring well-known local artists, Christine Kosiba, Shannon Whitworth and Margaret Kimble. This exhibit is being sponsored by Platt Architecture, PA and Michel and Bill Robertson.

The Haen Gallery at 210 S. Broad St. will present an array of new artwork including new paintings by Ursula Gullow and Henry Callahan, and sculpture by Melinda Rosenberg. Stop by their location on Friday evening.

It’s Art Lab’s second birthday party weekend. They will host an open house with a costume contest and rock painting. Check out the list of activities they offer in this creative space.

Number 7 Arts Gallery will be celebrating three of their artists - Brenda Cameron, a fiber artist, Jack Christfield, a photographer, and John Davis, a landscape painter.

Artists @ Work Studio and Gallery will be featuring the fiber and polymer clay work of Diane Kuehn. She will be bringing in lots of new items in preparation for her trunk show the following day. Enjoy music by Mark and Sally Wingate.

A few doors up, explore Gravy with more than 30 artists. Sales benefit The Cindy Platt Boys & Girls Club of Transylvania County. Across the street see a potter at work at Brevard Clay, or paint your own pottery.

Red Wolf Gallery will present the work of new sculptor Richard Flottemesch. It will also feature the colorful new paintings of well-known North Carolina artist Keith Spencer and Georgia artist Cary Watson with his new lake scenes.

Blue Moon Gallery will have live acoustic music, wine from French Broad Wines, light hors d’oeuvres and new art from local artists. Next door Wine Down on Main will host musical entertainment by Letters to Abigail and an art exhibit by Margaret Newton. A portion of art sales will be donated to the Humane Society.

Heart of the Matter at 44 E. Main St. next to KTCHN is a studio for one and a gallery for more. Heart of the Matter will be featuring new works by Ann DerGara, Galen Garapolo and McKenzie Keenan.

Main Street Ltd will host a free wine tasting from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. While there, explore the featured art exhibit in the Hollingsworth Gallery.

Local Color presents Suzanne Crolley’s new selection of original paintings and Phyllis Cummings’ handmade baskets. Creative work from more than100 other artists include: jewelry, up-cycled, textile and clothing, pottery, Lichtenberg, photography, prints, woodwork and more. At Broad Street Wines enjoy a wine tasting. Across the street, check out Sun Dragon Art & Fiber in its new plaza location.

Over on Jordan Street explore Aura Gallery, located inside Be-Boutique with Billy Smith and Bonita Shipman. Next door, join Starfangled Press for the opening reception of “waves of chance & particles of fate,” a new solo-exhibition featuring the prints of artist Bryan Baker. Using minimal elements, Baker prints directly from physical objects such as the common six-sided die. Whether it is the chance of a random dice roll, or an elaborate pattern meticulously set in place, Baker’s work beautifully captures the sense of things briefly interacting with each other on the page. Meet the artist and enjoy a complimentary Oskar Blues beer tasting plus popcorn bar at 36 W. Jordan St.

Dragonfly Gallery will be offering wine and cheesecake to their clients and a spooky punch and candy for the kids.

Over in the Brevard Lumberyard Arts District, Studio U Salon and The Color Wheel Gallery will be exhibiting works by artist Erin Jones.

185 King Street will host musical entertainment by The Moon and You with Hannah Kaminer starting at 8 p.m.

New on Gallery Walk is Connestee Falls Realty, located at 173 W. Main St., beside the Brevard Post Office. They will feature an artist at each Gallery Walk.
