Lake Toxaway Community Center

Thank you to all who have attended our Friday night events. We appreciate your support throughout the year. The Friday night dinners will be taking a winter break. Check out the community center Facebook page and website for our 2020 schedule. Once again, we truly appreciate all who have supported the community center and, especially, our volunteers. Rental of the community center is closed for the season.

North Toxaway Baptist Church Food Bank

The food bank will be open from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Nov. 2. New clients must show proof of current address in Lake Toxaway, Sapphire and Quebec communities. The food bank is located in the Old North Toxaway Baptist Church at the corner of Blue Ridge Road and Slick Fisher Road. We are there to help, and you will be treated with respect and discretion.

We have added a new history section to our website, http://www.toxawaycc. com. We are hoping to add to it, but we need your help in putting together stories or information you may have about the early days of the community center. Contact us through the website’s contact section, or leave a message at 966-4060 and we will contact you. If you wish to share any older photos, we can include those as well.

The library’s bookmobile will visit the following locations on Wednesday, Nov. 6: Quebec Community Center, 10 a.m. to noon; Lake Toxaway Post Office, 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m .; and Sapphire Post Office, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. You can pick up or return books at any location. Contact Brenda Ivers at 884-3151, ext. 6, if you are homebound about possible book delivery.

Quilt Group

The Lake Toxaway Quilt group will not meet during the winter months. We will start our Tuesday meetings up again in the early spring. Check the community center website and the notices in the paper to stay up to date on the exact date when we will start meeting again.

Thank you to all the wonderful volunteers who have helped out in 2019. This is our final Friday night at the community center, and we could not have served dinner and brought the music to the community to so many without great contributions by everyone at the community center. We have also had such a super group of volunteers who have worked the Bargain Barn thoughout the season and they have raised a great deal of money to help support the community center as a whole.

Senior Lunch Program

The senior lunch program at Quebec Community Center offers a nutritious lunch, fellowship and games Monday – Friday to anyone in the Toxaway, Quebec and Silversteen communities who are 60 or older.

The program is between 10 a.m. and noon. Transportation is available. Call Pam McCall from 9:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. at (828) 862-4466. Please make a reservation a day ahead.
