When Thomas Shoemaker first choreographed "The Nutcracker" for Brevard Ballet, he knew it would be a work-in-progress from year to year. With each production, his vision for the ballet has been more fully realized, and as the dancers have matured, new challenges have been added. Now in its fifth year, Brevard Ballet's "Nutcracker" has taken a grand jeté, adding five new dances, including the "Waltz of the Flowers."

This year's performance, featuring 60 local dancers and four guest soloists from the South Carolina Governor's School for Arts and Humanities, will be presented on Sunday, Nov....
