Lake Toxaway Community Center

Congratulations to Lake Toxaway Community Center on its award from the WNC Communities as a "Community of Promise." On Saturday, Nov. 2, six members of the Lake Community Center volunteer group attended the 70th Annual WNC Communities Award Banquet in Asheville. The Community Center was very fortunate to win the award as a "Community of Promise" and a check for $1,000. The award was given for the hard work (and many volunteer hours) on the Friday evening dinners, the great work on the walking track and other efforts done throughout the year on the community center for the Lake Toxaway community. Thank you to all who have attended our Friday night events. We appreciate your support throughout the year. The Friday night dinners will be taking a winter break. Check out the Community Center Facebook page and website for the 2020 Schedule.

North Toxaway Baptist Church

North Toxaway Baptist Church invites the Lake Toxaway community to dinner the Sunday (Nov. 24) before Thanksgiving at 4 p.m. North Toxaway Baptist Church is located at 51 Slick Fisher Road.

History

We have added a new section – history – to our website at http://www.toxaway cc.com. We are hoping to add to it, but we need your help in putting together stories or information you may have about the early days of the community center. You can contact us through the contact section of the website, or leave a message at 966-4060 and we will contact you. If you wish to share any older photos, we can include those as well.

Quilt Group

The Lake Toxaway Quilt group will not meet during the winter months. We will start our Tuesday meetings up again in the early spring. Check out the community center website and the notices in the paper to stay up-to-date on the exact date when we will start meeting again.

Devin Galloway

The Devin Galloway fundraiser will be held at 7 p.m., Nov. 16, at Headwaters Outfitters. Come out for BBQ plates, drinks and silent auctions, with proceeds going to support Devin's medical expenses. BBQ will start at noon and will go until 7 p.m. or until they run out. They will have silent auction baskets and items, as well. There will be some music throughout the day. There will be plenty of parking in the back of Headwaters, but carpool if coming as a big group. They will announce winners of silent auction around 6 p.m.

Senior Lunch Program

The senior lunch program at Quebec Community Center offers a nutritious lunch, fellowship and games between 10 a.m. and noon, Monday to Friday, to anyone in the Toxaway, Quebec and Silversteen communities who are 60 or older.
